Run For The Water Invites Community to Share Stories Ahead of 20th Anniversary Race

For Immediate Release

AUSTIN, Texas — Run For The Water 2026 is inviting runners, volunteers, supporters, and community members to share their memories and stories as the event prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary this November.

For two decades, Run For The Water has brought the Austin community together through a race with a greater purpose: helping fund the Gazelle Foundation’s work designing, building, and funding clean water systems in Burundi.

As part of the anniversary celebration, organizers are collecting stories, memories, photos, and personal experiences from participants who have been part of the event over the past 19 years.

“Run For The Water has always been about more than a race,” said founder Gilbert Tuhabonye. “It’s a community connected by purpose, compassion, and the belief that every mile can help change lives.”

Participants are encouraged to submit stories ranging from memorable race-day moments and volunteer experiences to personal connections formed through the event and its mission.

As a thank you, everyone who submits a story by June 1, 2026, will receive special 20th-anniversary commemorative swag.

The 20th anniversary Run For The Water will take place Sunday, November 8, 2026, in Austin, Texas, and includes a 10-Miler, 5K, Kids K, and Global Run virtual option.
