Austin runners invited to train together as the 20th anniversary race countdown begins
AUSTIN, Texas — September 4, 2026 — Ten weeks to race day. Time to run.
Gilbert’s Gazelles will host a community training run on Saturday, September 5, kicking off the 10-week training season for the 20th anniversary Run For The Water on November 8.
Runners can choose from 2–5 mile or 3–7 mile options, with multiple pace groups available. The run is open to runners training for Run For The Water and offers a chance to start the season with a crew.
“Training is always better together,” said Gilbert Tuhabonye, co-founder of the Gazelle Foundation and founder of Gilbert’s Gazelles. “Whether you are preparing for your first 5K or your next 10-Miler, we want runners to come out, find their pace and run with joy.”
The community run coincides with the launch of the 10-week Run For The Water Training Plan, created by Tuhabonye and provided free to registered Run For The Water participants. The self-guided plan includes options for both 5K and 10-Miler runners and is designed so participants can start now or jump in as they prepare for race day.
The September kickoff is part of a growing calendar of community runs, workouts and events bringing Austin runners together ahead of race day.
